The area features a 12MW independent power plant under construction by the China-Africa Lekki investment limited, the Lekki deep sea port and the Dangote oil refinery. It is one of the well planned residential suburbs in Lagos with a commercial trade zone under development popularly known as the Lekki free trade zone. It is located next to Eti osa LGA and it is known for its numerous housing estates, and gardens. Ibeju Lekki is another wealthy LGA in Lagos state. Their companies are also located in this area. The richest people in Nigeria namely Aliko Dangote, Folorunso Alakija and Mike Adenuga all have houses in Eti Osa. The Eti-Osa people are predominantly from the Awori Yoruba subgroup but the area currently has a unique blend of diverse ethnicities from all over the country.Įti-Osa is home to many large domestic and international businesses and thriving neighbourhoods include Ikoyi, Lekki Lagoon, Port at Lekki and Victoria Island. The population of Eti-Osa is 283,791 residents which represent 3.11% of the state’s population. The Abuja Municipal is said to be the most powerful local government area in Nigeria as it is the location of the seat of the presidency, the senators, the House of Representatives. It began operating in 1997 as a small market of only 10 shops but has since grown to a current market of over 3000 shops. Some of the districts in Ikeja include Oregun, Ojodu, Opebi, Akiode, Alausa, Agidingbi, Magodo, Ogba, Maryland, Government Residence Area, Ikeja and Computer VillageĬomputer Village is the largest computer market in the country and it is popularly known as Otigba. Ikeja is also home to Femi Kuti’s Africa Shrine and Lagbaja’s Motherlan’. Some of the major places in Ikeja include the busiest airport in West Africa, Muritala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja City Mall popularly called Shoprite and Lagos State Government House. The city is a blend of residential, commercial, and industrial areas and it is also has a well-defined drainage and transit system.
